The Joe & Nellie Parriott Archival Center is a branch of the Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library. It is named after benefactors Joseph D. Parriott and his wife Nellie L. (Byrd) Parriott. Joe Parriott is widely regarded as one of the county’s greatest contributors to the preservation of Marshall County history, in particular for his dedication to local veterans. Numerous books sharing Moundsville and Marshall County history, housed at the Library and the Archival Center, bear his name.

Early work on establishing an archive for the Moundsville Library began around 2019, and the building at 509 Morton Avenue was readied in 2022-2023 to function as an annex to the main library building a block away on Fifth Street. Archivist Tanner Skym came on board at the start of 2024. The Archival Center is a work-in-progress with plans to share the stories of the people and places of Marshall County, West Virginia through the years: “Preserving Memories for Future Generations.”

DIRECTIONS: The Archival Center is located at the corner of Morton Avenue and Sixth Street, about a block south of the main library.
